Vintage set of four (4) WILSHIRE silver plate grapefruit, orange or fruit spoons in the discontinued "Wilshire" pattern. (c. 1933) Excellent vintage condition with only light scrapes from polishing and storage.
One grapefruit spoon does have a "band" of discoloration where the bowl of the spoon meets the handle. (see photo) Each Wilshire silverplate grapefruit spoon measures 6" in length and is touchmarked on the back with WILSHIRE SILVER PLATE.
A grapefruit spoon is a utensil usually similar in design to a teaspoon that tapers to a sharp edge or teeth, the intent of the front serration being to separate the flesh of a grapefruit from its rind. Also called an orange spoon, it is used for other citrus fruits, as well as kiwifruit and melons.
