Exquisite antique semi-porcelain W. H. Grindley & Co. "Daisy" scalloped white porcelain with hand-painted gold accents gravy boat. Beautifully raised sculptured piece of antique porcelain china. Lovely antique pattern of pink and yellow daisies, with hand-painted gold trim along the handle and along the backside of the gravy boat. Scalloped base and rim, with a decorative handle. Made in England, backstamp dates this fine antique porcelain china gravy boat between 1891-1914.
Extremely good condition for its age with one tiny chip noted on the underside of the gravy spout lip. Measures 7.5" from the tip of the gravy spout to the outside edge of the handle, 4.5" at the widest part of the body and stands between 2.5" high at the center of the body, 4" tall at the top of the handle and 3.25" at the top of the spout and weighs 10 ounces.
W. H. Grindley & Co. of England were manufacturers of earthenware at the Newfield Pottery and then the Woodland Pottery, Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent. The company was founded at the Newfield Pottery in 1880 by William Harry Grindley (princliple partner) and Mr Turner (the '& Co.'). They produced earthenware and ironstone china - particularly for the Canadian, United States, South American and Australian markets. In 1891 the company moved to the Woodfield Pottery, Woodland Street, Tunstall., and in 1908 Mr Grindley set up The Grindley Hotel Ware Co.
